Couple drowned in Maldives while on Honeymoon

MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino couple on their special night suffocated to death in the Maldives, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday.



The 29-year-old spouse and the 30-year-old husband were supposedly swimming when they begun suffocating, as per specialists. The couple were remaining at a hotel in Dhiffushi island.

"Both were safeguarded by resort specialists however were articulated dead upon landing in a neighborhood healing facility. Experts were accounted for to research the occurrence," DFA representative Elmer Cato said in an announcement.

As indicated by a report from Raajjee Television, the man began suffocating first while his better half began to call for help after observing him suffocating.


The Filipino couple were both still when rescuers contacted them on a dinghy above water the outside of the water.



The couple were hitched on Dec. 18, 2018 and left Manila for their vacation last January 9, the DFA said.

The DFA has communicated its feelings to the groups of the couple and is staying in contact with their closest relative to broaden help with the repatriation of their remaining parts.
